Board with my bath

Board with my bath

I wish I could tell you how wonderful our guest bathroom renovation looks.

But I can tell you how adding board and batten to the bathroom made a huge difference.

I went to Georgia to spend time with my family and to bury my sweet grandma.   David decided to spend his weekend working on his honey do list.

My guest bathroom has been a complete eye sore to me.   It’s just a plain, blah bath.  Nothing special at all.

I have just tried to live with it for now, until we can rip it out and do a complete bathroom renovation, which will be a few years from now.  Sorry mama, but it’s just not a priority right now!

So in the meantime, I replaced the cheap, outdated bathroom vanity with a brand new vanity, that I painted blue.

You can read all about that transformation at Out with the old and in with the new.

David has been dying to get his power tools out for a long time so we decided this would be a great weekend for him to work on a small DIY  project.  Because of our crazy schedule, he wanted something that he could complete in a weekend.  We just aren’t ready to start a project right now that will take more than a weekend to finish.

I decided on having board and batten added to one wall to help add character and charm to to a very blah bathroom since a bathroom renovation is not in the works right now.

Here is the before wall

And after

It’s as close to a renovation that I am going to get right now.

I found this wall art last week at Marshall’s.

It reminded me of Brandon so I just had to buy it.

My bathroom looks like this today

But I’m sure in a few days it will look super cute!

I think I will add a few little beach home decor accessories to fit with the sign, after all I do live in Florida, I have to have some beachy decor right?

My Mr. honey do will be writing the post on how to install board and batten.  He’s all excited that I will be sharing my blog with him.  He has been asking to post for a while now.   So stay tuned!

Tell me, what have you done to add charm and character to a blah room?

  1. Wanda – the board and batten looks GREAT!! I am so jealous…I will be in Florida next week (Orlando) and was wondering if you can suggest some flea markets or antique/junking spots that might be good to visit?!
